Tara Tinnin grew up in Little Rock Arkansas and attended Little Rock Central high. After high school she went to the University of Denver and earned bachelors degrees in English and Philosophy with a focus in Ethics. After college, she attended the Sturm College of Law. In 2012, she began her recovery journey. She left law school to focus on her recovery and attended a 30-day residential treatment program in California. After treatment and upon the advice of her treatment team, she moved from Denver into a sober living home in San Francisco. In San Francisco she completed an intensive outpatient program, attended 12-step meetings every day, worked closely with sponsor, and completed a program to become an EMT. She became the manager of her sober living home, held service positions within AA, and sponsored other women. She discovered a passion for helping other people in recovery, and after 6 and half years in California, she decided to return home and start a program in her beloved home community. She purchased Serenity Park in 2018 after being inspired by the legacy of Joe McQuany. At Serenity Park, she is building a program that is inspired by the wisdom of the steps and informed by modern and holistic approaches to human well-being. As a firm believer in fun, her favorite quote from the Big Book is “We are not a glum lot.”
